A split shipment in trucking is one in which a single shipment is divided into child shipments and transported by more than one vehicle. This can arise for a variety of reasons, including size, weight constraints, and delivery timetables. Each piece of the package may travel individually, but they will ultimately meet at the final destination.
Please note: Split shipments are non-billable moves. Only once all split shipments are completed, the primary or so called the master shipment will appear in your Accounts Receivable for billing.
1. To create a split shipment you should click on three dots at the end of shipment line as shown in image below and choose “Split Shipment” option
2. Once you select the option “Split Shipment”, a pop up will open. User needs to select the “Stop point” which represents the location on where the “split” (relay) will happen. Then enters date/time when the first driver is dropping the load and when the second driver is picking up the load. Once that information is entered, user needs to click on a box on the right side with two arrows on it as shown in the image below and then click on split shipment button.
3. After completing the split, the user will now have "two shipments" with the same Shipment ID, but marked as S1 for the original shipment number, and S2 marked as the split shipment of the original shipment number.
